PEOPLE MOVES

Geometry Global Singapore appointed Jane Perry as managing director, reporting to Diana Cawley, Asia Pacific CEO. Perry has 17 years of experience and was most recently MD for APAC at The Client Relationship Consultancy. Prior to that, she was MD of WPP retail and branding agency Fitch Southeast Asia. 

BBC World Japan named Dan Inamoto as its managing director.  Inamoto comes to BBC from AKQA Japan where he was business director.  With a background in digital activation, he will be tasked with growing the BBC’s digital activities in Japan while maximising traditional TV revenue.

Communications firm DeVries Global appointed Lydia Shen as managing director for China. Shen was previously the China managing director for public relations firm, Cohn & Wolfe.  DeVries also promoted Zoe Wu to a new role as regional vice president, operations and business strategy, China and Asia.

Dentsu Aegis Network’s data-driven performance agency Merkle appointed Ted Bray as growth officer for Merkle Asia Pacific. Prior to this, Bray served as Merkle’s vice president of global partnerships and has over 20 years of experience in global enterprise technology sales and marketing.

Isobar hired Fjord’s Chirryl-Lee Ryan as head of experience design as of 12 June. Reporting to David Jessop, managing director of Isobar Hong Kong, Ryan will drive innovation in experience design in Hong Kong and Australia. She will also work with Cheyney Robinson, chief experience officer EMEA & APAC.

Wieden+Kennedy Shanghai promoted Vivian Yong (杨韵)to executive creative director.  Yong has worked at the agency for the past five years, after previously working between London and Hong Kong at M&C Saatchi, Ogilvy and McCann Erickson.  She will now team up with W+K Shanghai’s current ECD Ian Toombs as a creative leader duo working alongside managing director Bryan Tilson.

CNN named Kimmy Ho as director of content sales and partnership, North Asia. Formerly head of sales for Thomson Reuters, Ho will work with existing partners and new TV and publishers to license the network’s premium content in her new role. Ho reports to David Collet, senior director, content sales and partnerships.

Econsultancy appointed Damien Cummings as entrepreneur-in-residence and principal consultant, APAC. Part of Cummings’ new responsibilities include provide training and consultancy for startups and organisations in digital transformation. Cummings joins from Peoplewave, a cloud-based HR software company.

McCann Worldgroup named Jason Chia as the new Malaysia digital tech lead based in Kuala Lumpur. Chia, who was previously technical lead at Splash Interactive, has 10 years of digital experience.

Australia-based tech agency Bench PR appointed Tara Ballard as senior consultant following the expansion of its client portfolio with the Gooroo and Code Like a Girl wins.

BUSINESS WINS

IPG Mediabrands was appointed digital AOR for AIA in Malaysia following a competitive pitch. The account will be led by Reprise, IPG Mediabrands’ digital performance arm, and the scope includes comprehensive digital performance strategies across the brand’s suite of products.

We Communications was selected by Carlsberg Hong Kong to handle event coverage and new product launch engagement for a number of beer and beverage brands including Erdinger, Kronenbourg 1664, and the newly launched HK Yau. 

Scoot picked DeVries Global as their public relations agency  to head up communications and advocacy in China.

Virgin Mobile Australia appointed digital transformation specialist Datarati to implement its marketing automation and CRM business after a pitch. The remit of the agency includes campaign management across all stages of the telcos customer lifecycles such on-boarding, engagement, retention and requisition of lapsed customers. Datari had an earlier win from Nexus Holiday to manage its customer journey.

OTHER NEWS

Audio Network, a music company specialising in original music for film, television and digital media, announced its expansion into APAC with a Sydney-based operation, Audio Network Australia. The company was previously represented by Hong Kong-based sub-publisher, Blonde Media.

Creative Capital, a branding and design agency, is opening an office in Jakarta led by Agustinus Michel. The Jakarta office seeks to help brands tailor their marketing needs for the Indonesian market with a special focus on merging retail and digital into a singular storytelling platform.
