Vector + FitbitFitbit has acquired Romanian smartwatch startup Vector Watch for an undisclosed amount, as it continues to bring in talent and technology from smartwatch startups. The acquisition will see the Vector team and its software platform joining the San Francisco-based wearable tech giant.

Vector, founded in 2013 by former Citizen executives, is best known for the 30-day battery life that its smartwatches boast – along with a smartphone control app that worked across iOS, Android and Windows phones. Vector’s watches will continue to work but there will be no new features or models introduced under the Vector Watch name.

In a statement, announcing the acquisition, Vector says: “Our aim is to make our integration in the Fitbit family as seamless as possible with no impact on you, our customers. Our smartwatches will maintain functionalities and features. You will continue to enjoy the Vector Watch experience: a 30-day battery life smartwatch, with customizable watch-faces and dedicated streams. However, new product features (software and hardware) will not be added.”

The acquisition is Fitbit’s second in just over a month, following the acquisition of specific assets of smartwatch maker Pebble. In May 2016, Fitbit also acquired wearable payment platform Coin.
