Child-safe ad specialist SuperAwesome’s PopJam has launched Platform>, enabling developers and publishers to add a kid-friendly social feed to third party sites and apps.
PopJam Platform> is a social API compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) 1998. It allows content owners and developers access to a Facebook-like experience for under-13 users on their sites and apps.
Platform> is still in beta but allows publishers to embed a customised dynamic, moderated content feed directly within their site or app and existing channel partners can integrate their own PopJam feed through a partner tool. The social API also features a COPPA-compliant video player and the opportunity for monetisation.
According to SuperAwesome, Platform> is already being used by some of the company’s biggest partners, such as Hasbro, Grom Social and Roald Dahl.
SuperAwesome acquired PopJam from Mind Candy, creator of Moshi Monsters, last year for an undisclosed sum.
PopJam is described as an ‘Instagram for kids’, enabling children to share their photos and drawings. Available on iOS and Android device, it claims to ‘the default ‘kids social’ tool for the world’s biggest brands like Disney, Nintendo, Penguin, Rovio and many others’.
